Java Software Engineer
Position Description:
We are seeking a highly qualified, highly motivated Java Software Engineer who enjoys the challenges of creating enterprise-caliber Java systems. This person is expected to interface extensively with the rest of the team, but also be able to carry out a project or task independently with little supervision. The ideal candidate will have a strong Java and object-oriented design background and will help create and maintain web-based e-commerce applications for BuyerZone's web site (www.buyerzone.com). Looking for individuals who want to work in the JBoss, Spring, Hibernate, Java Environment.
Responsibilities:
- Make enhancements to transactional quoting engine, reporting, and internal management applications.
- Develop/Maintain Java code.
Requirements:
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent.
- 3-5 years industry experience with 3+ years experience in Java software design and development.
- Strong object-oriented design, software reusability, testing, and debugging skills required.
- Experience with Java, J2EE, JDBC, Spring, and Servlets.
- Experience with any RDBMS accepted, knowledge of Oracle preferred.
- Solid skills in JSP, HTML and JavaScript for creating interactive web applications required; knowledge of other web services and distributed technologies a plus.
- Experience with the JBoss application server.
- Ability to develop in both the Microsoft Windows and Linux environments.
- Experience working with Subversion or CVS, and Maven or Ant a plus.
- Experience working on high availability, transactional applications.
- Attention to details and quality.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- The ability and willingness to proactively interact creatively and achieve results in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

Systems Administrator
Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic, smart, results-oriented person to be the IT administrator for our industry-leading marketplace, focusing exclusively on the Internet-related environment. This position reports directly to the VP of Engineering and includes some management responsibility. As our Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for ensuring the continuous operation of BuyerZone.com’s websites.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide Linux systems administration support on both production and development environment servers
- Ensure the availability of resources (internal and/or outsourced)
- Support web infrastructure applications such as Apache, JBoss and BIND
- Design, build, configure, and deploy new servers and technologies
- Recommend and deploy new architecture and application enhancements
- Monitor all servers and applications, and troubleshoot for performance
- Design and implement disaster recovery plan for servers, applications, and databases
- Collaborate with cross-departmental colleagues to analyze and resolve operational issues from customers, end users, or internal customers in a timely and accurate fashion
- Manage email servers, including bulk email and transactional e-mail, with occasional assistance in sending Bulk Email
- Perform system backups and recovery
- Perform server and security audits
Required Skill Set:
- Experience managing an enterprise environment, including user accounts and system monitoring
- Experience with either MySQL or Oracle
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent
- 5 years experience in systems administration of Linux environments
- Strong organizational and problem solving skills, as well as an willingness to work cross-functionally with other teams in the organization
- History of working in an e-commerce environment a plus
